It surprises me how many people STILL are not up on Kamaiyah. Not too long after being featured on Drake & YG’s single Why You Always Hatin, she released her debut mixtape, A Good Night In the Ghetto. Anyone who got in my car had no choice but to listen, because I played it all day every day for I don’t even know how long. She successfully created a body of work that allowed you to be inspired and reflective all while turning up, which is all anyone could ever ask for, right? I selected I’m On to feature because it is the first song on the project, and an accurate reflection of the vibe you consistently get throughout the duration of the mixtape. Her unique voice, perspective, and delivery only adds to the appeal of the quality music that is reminiscent of her Oakland upbringing and 90s appreciation.
